Babe Ruth My Childhood Hero

As a boy I remember watching those black and white videos of babe Ruth hitting home runs and running above normal speeds. Those videos always seemed faster than normal and the players not quite as athletic as today’s ball players. Although baseball has come along way since the 1930s, history was made and yesteryears records are rarely broken.

Born on February 6, 1895 George Herman Ruth, Jr better known as The Babe had a talent that was apparent at an early age. As a boy, The Babe played as a catcher then at about 15 years of age he started pitching. The Babe had talent in many positions and his swing was remarkable. His pitching and batting talent was immediately noticeable.

At age 19 The Babe was recognized by Jack Dunn owner and manager of the Baltimore Orioles. Jack was known as one of the best talent scouts in baseball of his time. When other players saw the young Ruth they referred to him as Jacks Newest Babe, from that day on George

Uniforms

The official rules of Major League Baseball require that all players on a team wear matching uniforms, although this rule was not in force in the early days. Originally, teams were primarily distinguished by the colors of their stockings and the success of the Cincinnati Red Stockings popularized the adoption of sock color as the explicit identity of the club. The 1876 Chicago White Stockings actually wore caps of different colors. In 1882, the National League assigned stocking colors to the member clubs: red for Boston, white for Chicago, grey for Buffalo, blue for Worcester, gold for Detroit, green for Troy, and so on. That year, the league also assigned jersey and cap colors, but by player position rather than by club.

Florida Marlins, The Team, The Player and the World Series

The granting of the franchise for Florida took place on 1991, together with Colorado Rockies. When the Major League Baseball announced its intentions to add two more teams in the league, H. Wayne Huizenga made his interest known. It was not easy though because although talks indicated Florida as one of the locations, there were other contenders for the franchise coming from Tampa Bay and Florida. Thus the Florida Marlins was born.
They won their first game against the dodgers in its first ever game in the major league.

Jeff Conine

One of the players who made memorable career with the team is Jeff Conine. The team chose him during the expansion draft in 1993. He shared his career highlights with the Marlins. Saying Goodbye to the Old Yankees Stadium

The current Yankee Stadium is not having a facelift or a makeover but has a new site just across the road. It will be bigger, better, and stuffed with all the modern amenities you can find in modern ballparks the likes of U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. It will be a great place to watch big event games. Non-ticket holders can shop for Yankees memorabilia, and snack in one of the many cafes, including Hard Rock Café.

The crowd that watched the last game, Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles, witnessed the last game played in the historical stadium. The sold out crowd cheered baseball greats, Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, and Whitey Ford, imprinting the scene in their minds before curtain call.

This was “The House That Ruth Built” in 1923. 85 years later, it is now going to retire. An old guard giving way to the new stadium adjacent to it. The new Yankees Stadium will not fail to please baseball funs with its added modern features to compensate
