MVP Baseball 2005 (Nintendo Gamecube) Boston Red Sox (13-6) @ Baltimore Orioles (6-12) —————————————————- Carpenter is rolling for the Sox, who’ve jumped out to an early lead after the first 3 innings of play… but will they be able to hold on?

Top 10 Iconic Sporting Teams

Sport’s rich and illustrious history has given us many teams which have become true icons of their respective sport.

Much is down due to the image, history and culture that is so strongly associated sports side. Be it the red of Ferrari, the Haka of the All Blacks or the distinctive yellow and red ties of the Marylebone Cricket Club.

Other sides owe their iconic status due to the fact that it took an especially brave man to place a sports spread bet against a side so obviously superior. Los Galácticos of Real Madrid in both the late 1950’s and 1990’s or the all-conquering Dallas Cowboys or Chicago Bulls of the 1990’s could lay claim to such an honour.

Here we look at some of the most iconic teams ever to grace the world of sport – would you have bet against them?

Brazil:
Without doubt the most famous national team in the world. Football is in the soul of all Brazilians, whether learning the game on Copacabana

What is a Home Run Derby

What is a Home Run Derby

The Home Run Derby is a very interesting baseball event. It is a contest between major league baseball players, to see who can hit the most home runs. The event is mainly sponsored by State Farm Insurance, and continues to attract the eyeballs of many baseball fans to this day.

What makes the event so fun and interesting is that the usual competitive spirit in major baseball league games is replaced by a cheerful spirit. This is, after all, not a truly competitive event. After year, hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised during the event. The funds are donated by generous sponsors.

Over the years, the format of the event has changed several times. For example, it used to be the case that home run scours are reset to zero with each new round. However, in 2006, a rule change allowed players to carry over home run scours to the second round. Scours in the final round are still reset to zero.

The field of players are chosen from

Become Part of Red Sox Nation with Boston Red Sox Tickets

As the decade winds to a close, Boston Red Sox baseball has made a statement that they are the team of the decade. From a frustrating just good enough to break our hearts every fall team beloved by all as the Little Engine That Never Could to a big-market, confident team with a winning pedigree. No team has experienced such a dramatic shift in every area of the club: from a decrepit ballpark being rejuvenated to a lifetime-long ownership regime ending to two World Series rings.

The Boston Red Sox are questionably the most popular team in baseball right now. After 86 years of allegedly being cursed by Babe Ruth, Boston Red Sox baseball finally broke through and won the World Series just a few short years ago, in 2004. Every year since then, their fan base has grown and grown as the team continues to win. In fact, many believe that Red Sox Nation is the most enthusiastic and loyal fan base in all of Major League Baseball! If you don’t believe me, try

Baseball Betting Tips – MLB’s Coldest Teams

Whereas the picture is getting rosier for the hot squads in the bigs, there are plenty of teams in baseball singing the blues. Check out Bet US’S list of which teams are down in the dumps that you should stay away from at all costs if recent form is any indicator…

(Rank) (Team) (SU Record, $$$) (SU Record in L/5, $$$)

1: Houston Astros (70-81, -7) (0-5, -2 in L/5) The wheels have completely fallen off of the Astros down the stretch, and manager Cecil Cooper was the man who ultimately took the fall for it. After another bitter defeat last night, the ‘Stros have now dropped nine straight games to all but lock up a sub-.500 season. The bats have just failed Houston miserably in this run of bad games, as it hasn’t scored more than five runs in a game since September 11.

2: Cleveland Indians (61-89, -,743) (0-5, -6 in L/5) Speaking of managers that are probably on their way out the

Major League Gold Gloves – Ranking the 1960s Best Defensive Players

Matt Weiters, a catcher for the Baltimore Orioles (MLB) stresses the importance of flexibility in baseball. “”Being a catcher, ones you catch three or four days in a row, your hips they?re get very tight, and it feels like it almost there?sa ball or something rock in there so its just skid them be able to get that out because if its tight you can?t get down as low, you can?t give as good as target, and you can?t move as well. So I decide that?s sort of it may cause you one round, it may cause you two or three rounds of game if you can be flexible and move around. Well, most of them just lateral quick short drills where you have maybe a box or something on each side where you just stepping up just the way your stretching your hips up and at the same time your strengthen it if when the game comes around, its, you don?t have the box there, but your quicker because you?ve been working from sliding side to side.”"

Major League Gold Gloves – Ranking the 1960s Best Defensive Players

Great defensive players were an important part of the superior pitching that was characteristic of baseball in the 1960s. The players who made this list necessarily made their pitchers better, day in and day out.

1. Bill Mazeroski – Mazeroski holds more defensive records than any other player in major league history. He is the only second baseman ever to record more than 1,700 double plays. A 7-time All-Star, Mazeroski won 8 Gold Gloves.

2. Brooks Robinson – Robinson was probably the best third baseman of all time. When he retired, Robinson held practically every career fielding record for a third baseman, including most career putouts (2,697), most career assists (6,205), most career double plays (618), and the highest fielding average (.971) … as well as 16 career Gold Gloves.

3. Jim Kaat – Jim Kaat pitched in the majors for 25 years, was quite possibly the best fielding pitcher ever to play the game, and was one of baseball’s

Why Is Ephedra Banned?

Ephedra is considered to be a very effective weight loss pill. However, it is also a fact that Ephedra is currently off limits in the United States thanks to a directive by the US Food and Drugs Administration that rules that ephedra is a very dangerous substance. The FDA ruled in 2004 that the product’s usage can result to serious complications which include death and psychiatric episodes.

What Was Behind the Ruling?

The FDA took some time to come up with its decision, actually giving the ruling 7 years after the product has taken hold of the United States market. There have been two major events that eventually led to the eventual banning of ephedra products in the United States.

First one would be the death of Minnesota Vikings player Korey Stringer. Though it was less publicized as the second event, ephedra was still tagged as a cause of death for Stringer.

The other event, however, is said to be very

Biography of the Legend: Babe Ruth

Babe Ruth’s Early Life

On February 6th 1895, Babe Ruth was born George Herman Ruth, Jr., in a poor waterfront neighborhood. When Ruth was seven years old, his father gave him up to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys, an orphanage. A priest at St. Mary’s, Brother Matthias, recognized the wonderful talent that this child had, and worked with young George to improve his game. In 1914, Jack Dunn, owner of the Baltimore Orioles, observed Ruth pitch in a game, and immediately signed him to a contract. Because George was so young, he got the nickname “Jack’s newest babe.” This is how he got the name “Babe” Ruth.

Later in 1914, Ruth’s contract was signed to the Boston Red Sox, who already had many excellent players. He appeared in five of the seasons games, only pitching in four. Ruth was able to get a spot on the teams starting rotation during the training season of 1915. Ruth’s batting average for 1915 was .315, and hit four home runs as well. It
