A Preview of the 2006 Toronto Blue Jays

No one expected much from the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005. But surprisingly, prior to the all star break Toronto pitching managed to remain in the American League top 10 while their battling ranked 5th overall in the AL with a collective .268 team average. Unfortunately for Toronto it was all downhill from there as they slid to a final disappointing 80-82 record and fell 15 games behind the Red Sox and Yankees to end their season in 3rd place.

Toronto outfielder Vernon Wells (.269 28 97) provided most of the Blue Jays’ power numbers in 2005 with former Arizona Diamondback and newly acquired Shea Hillenbrand (.291 17 82) helping by splitting time between 1st and 3rd base. The rest of the infield produced much of the team’s offensive in 2005 including 2nd baseman Orlando Hudson (.315 10 63) and 3rd baseman turned 1st baseman Eric Hinske (.262 15 68). Starting pitcher Roy Halladay (12-4 2.41) was clearly the star of the starting pitching staff before he suffered

Understanding Gambling Odds

There are two problems people can have with understanding gambling odds. The first is doing the math. The second is actuallly understanding the true odds.. We’re going to look at both of these here to make the concept of odds as simple as possible.

The way odds are presented is pretty simple really. If you are getting 6/4 on something, it means you will win every 6 units for every 4 you risk if your bet comes in. So if you bet on a 6/4 chance, you will receive , plus the you bet originally back, a total of . This in essence, is the easy way to understand gambling odds.

If you have looked at the Las Vegas lines on big sporting events, these are expressed differently. You might see the Baltimore Orioles listed as +120 and the Milwaukee Brewers as -130 for a baseball game. What this means is you will win 0 if you bet 0 on the Orioles, but you need to risk 0 to win 0 betting on the Brewers. This is the bare mechanics of

15 Strange Sports Injuries

14. Pitching great Nolan Ryan once missed a start after a coyote allegedly bit him.
13. Chicago Cubs outfielder Jose Cardenal missed a game in 1974 because his eyelid was “stuck open,” which prevented him from blinking. He eventually overcame this ailment, it didn’t help his reputation as a player who liked to use suspicious injuries to get out of games; two seasons earlier he had missed a game because crickets in his hotel room had kept him up all night, leaving him exhausted.
12. Atlanta Braves Pitcher Tom Glavine suffered from food poisoning during the 1992 season; his symptoms were so bad that he broke a rib while vomiting.
11. Atlanta Braves first baseman Ryan Klesko missed several games in 1999 after straining his back while picking up his lunch tray.
10. Brazilian soccer star Ramalho once missed three days of action because he was bedridden after taking a suppository orally.

Defining Weekend in Major League Baseball!

The Minnesota Twins have rebounded from an atrocious start and are now positioned for a serious run at the wild card spot. Tonight, they welcome the World Champion Chicago White Sox for a crucial three game set that may have them sitting in the penthouse come Sunday night.

While all this is going on in the Twin Cities, the Boston Red Sox will host Johnny Damon and his teammates for an unusual 5-game weekend tilt. The Red Sox must make a move this weekend or they are in serious jeopardy of being on the outside looking in come October.

The White Sox are staring at a brutal 9-game stretch as they leave Minnesota on Sunday and head straight to Motown, then back to the South Side for another three against the Twinkies! If you ask me, now’s the time to take advantage of all the online sports betting out there.

Minnesota will play 22 of their remaining 42 games against teams above .500 while the White Sox, 25 of 42, and the Red Sox have the toughest

Babe Ruth Baseball Cards – a Valuable Investment

February 12th, 2010

This is my second video of the Baltimore Orioles that feed in my yard. I bought a new feeder that holds an orange and has four ports for jelly along with the 4 sugar water ports. I use grape jelly and they just love it. I can fill the four ports up everyday and they eat it all. I didn’t have much luck with the orange though and don’t put one out there anymore. There is a special guest that appears midway through the video, a Ruby Throated Hummingbird that came to check out the new feeder. They can feed from this feeder also because I use the same sugar water I put in the Hummingbird feeder. This feeder is much nicer than the first I purchased. This one is so easy to clean and fill and has the other options for food. Here is a link to my first Baltimore Oriole video: www.youtube.com The background song is from Kevin MacLeod and called “Rains Will Fall”. Here is his website: www.incompetech.com More info on Baltimore Orioles: The Baltimore Oriole, Icterus galbula, is a small icterid blackbird which is on average 18 cm long and weighs 34 g. This bird received its name from the fact that the male’s colors resemble those on the coat-of-arms of Lord Baltimore. At one time, this species and the Bullock’s Oriole, Icterus bullockii, were considered to be a single species, the Northern Oriole. The Baltimore Orioles, a Major League Baseball team in Baltimore, Maryland, were named after this bird. It is also the state bird of Maryland. Adults have a pointed bill and white bars on the

Babe Ruth Baseball Cards – a Valuable Investment

Babe Ruth was born in Baltimore, Maryland and his actual name was George Herman Ruth Jr. He finished his career with 714 home runs and a 342 career batting average, being given the nickname of “Sultan of Swat” and becoming probably the most popular baseball player of all times.

There isn’t a baseball fanatic, or baseball cards collector in the world that would not want to get their hands on an official Babe Ruth baseball card as Babe Ruth continues to have die-hard fans that weren’t even thought of being born when he was hitting home. A Babe Ruth baseball card might not hold any real value for a person who does not know anything about the game, but fans are ready to pay almost any prize to get hold of original collectibles and to create a memorabilia of Babe Ruth. And the Babe Ruth baseball cards are as much sought after now as they were 80 years ago.

Despite his cards not being the most valuable on the planet (that honor going to the Honus

Camden Yards Tickets and Chicago Theatre Tickets and Seating Arrangements

ough the Camden Yards may occasionally get overrun by Red Sox and Yankee fans there is one thing that no one can ever take from it. The stadium has been operational for as long as 20 years and there is no one stadium that has come close to matching what the Orioles begun in Baltimore. The stadium was opened in 1992 with a seating capacity of 48,262 which makes it one of the major stadiums in the region. Over 0 million was used in the construction of the stadium and several other stadiums have strived to meet the standards of the Camden Yards but they have never been quite able to match.

The stadium is located right at the centre of Baltimore and a light rail is joined to the stadium giving the locals a cheap and convenient means of transport. The train drops you right at the stadium so there is no reason why you shouldn’t go and enjoy your sporting activities while your weekend rolls over smoothly. You can as well drive yourself to the stadium since there

Nationals, From Montreal to Washington

How would you feel if you are among the lowest in standings? In almost half a century since their inception, the Montreal Expos has never appeared in a World Series. This is because they have never won a National League pennant. While the Yankees are counting their World Series titles, the Expos are still hoping to win the National League championship.

They are one of the four teams in the Major League Baseball who have not been in the World Series. However, this does not mean that the team never experienced glory since their formation. In fact, they won their only Division title in 1981. They also had good seasons in the early 1990s. However, everything changed after the strike of the baseball players in 1994. Expos experienced several losses in terms of valuable players, support, and finances.

The year 2004 was the last season of the Expos in Montreal. Before the 2005 series began, the team moved to Washington. When they moved there,
